Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology formerly known as BIT, Rajshahi, is the second oldest Engineering University in Bangladesh. Widely reputed as one of the best engineering universities in Bangladesh. About twelve hundred[citation needed] students are enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate engineering and science in this institution. The total number of teachers is over 100[citation needed]. The Campus presents a spectacular harmony of architecture and natural beauty. Education Cost

Yearly academic cost $40 (2800 Taka) (approx) in all department's students of RUET. Admission cost $ 143 (10,000 Taka) including medical cost, library, sports and others expenditure and for one time only in four years Bachelors degree.

Halls of Residence

Student dormitories are important features in campus life. There are six residential halls to provide housing for RUET students. Among them the Ladies D MST Hall is for women, and the remaining five halls are for men studying in the undergraduate level.

Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology or BUET as it is commonly known, is a Public Engineering University in Bangladesh. Admissions

Undergraduate admission test in BUET is one of the intensive written examination in Bangladesh as it only offers a limited number of seats in each academic year. After completion of higher secondary level (HSC) education, a student can submit his application for undergraduate admission if s/he fulfills the minimum requirements. Students with certain percentages in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English of their higher secondary examination are allowed to take the admission test. The screening process allows 6000 students to sit for the admission test from a pool of approximately 40,000[citation needed] applicants. After the admission test, only about 885 students get admitted to this prestigious institution. This rigorous screening ensures the quality of students enrolled every year. However, for admission to M.S. and Ph. D. programs candidates are required to appear in interviews and/or written tests.

There are 26 seats for foreign students in undergraduate level. The pre requisite qualification for admission is H.S.C. or GCE A level or its equivalent with good grades in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Tuition and other fees per year is US$1000 (one thousand US dollar) and approximate cost for food, lodging etc. is US$100 per month. Maximum 10 students from a single country are allowed for admission.

B.Sc. admission in CUET is highly competitive, determined in part through a highly competitive admission test. After completion of higher secondary level (HSC) education, a student can submit his application for undergraduate admission if he fulfills the minimum requirement. Students with a minimum grade in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English of their higher secondary examination are allowed to appear in the admission test. Last year, the minimum grade point average (GPA) requirement was 4.50 out of 5.00. This formidable screening process allow 2500 - 3000 students to sit for the admission test out of the 20,000 that apply. After the admission test, best 420 students get the opportunity to study in this prestigious institution. However, for admission to M.S. and Ph.D. programs candidates are required to appear in interviews.

The University of Chittagong is a public university situated at Hathazari Upazila Chittagong district, Bangladesh. The university was established in 1966. The campus is at 22 km north of Chittagong city. Therefore, it has shuttle trains service from 7:00 A.M. to 9:30 P.M. for students. There are bus services for the faculties and staffs. Admissions

Candidate for admission into the first year class must have passed the H.S.C. Examination from an Education Board in Bangladesh with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as his or her subjects of examination in Higher Secondary level or examination recognized as equivalent thereto, and must also fulfill all other requirements as may be prescribed by the Academic Council on the recommendation of the Admission Committee. In case of confusion regarding the equivalence the case may be referred to central Equivalence Committee. The rules and conditions for admission into different departments shall be framed by the Academic Council on the recommendation of the Admission Committee in each year. All candidates for admission into the courses of B. Sc. Eng. must be citizens of Bangladesh unless the candidature is against the seats those are reserved for foreign students. Candidates for all seats except the reserved ones, if any, shall be selected on the basis of merit. The rules for admission into the reserved seats shall be framed by the Academic Council on the recommendation of the Admission Committee.

Khulna University is one of the public universities in Bangladesh]. It is situated at Gollamari, Khulna, Bangladesh, by the river Moyuree, beside the Khulna Satkhira highway. Rajshahi University or University of Rajshahi is a public university located in Rajshahi, a city in north western Bangladesh. Rajshahi University was established in 1953, the second university to be established in what was then East Pakistan.

The university's forty seven departments are organised into eight faculties. Rajshahi University is located in a 753 acres campus in Motihar, 3 kilometres from the Rajshahi city centre. With 25,000 students and close to 1000 academic staff, it is one of the largest universities in Bangladesh.

The university's 47 departments are organised into eight faculties:

Arts, Law, Science, Medicine, Business Studies, Social Sciences, Life and Earth Sciences, and Agriculture. The Arts and the Law faculties are the oldest in the university, both established in 1953, closely followed by the Faculty of Science (1956). The university's departments represent the traditional studies in arts, commerce and sciences through programs in History, Languages and Linguistics, Economics, Business studies, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science & Engineering, Chemistry, Statistics, Geology & Mining, Geography, Psychology, Zoology, Botany, etc. The university is increasingly emphasizing on more specialized programs such as Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Information and Communications engineering (est. 2000) or Genetics and breeding (est. 1996).

The Faculty of Arts includes departments in languages and linguistics (Bengali, English, Arabic), historical studies (history, Islamic history and culture), philosophy and fine arts. In the late 1990s, programs in theater, music and folklore studies were introduced.The Faculty of Social Science has programs in sociology, social work, anthropology, economics, political science and media-related studies.The Faculty of Law consists only of the department of law, while the departments of finance and banking, management, marketing and accounting make up the Faculty of Business Studies. All facilities of these three faculties are located in the three arts buildings.

The four science buildings house the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Life and Earth Science. The former has programs in physics, applied physics & electronics, mathematics, statistics, computer science, chemistry, psychology, applied chemistry, material science, biochemistry, and information & communication technology.
Prominent departments in the faculty of Life and Earth Sciences include zoology, botany, geography, pharmacy, and genetics & breeding; these are all housed in the third science building. Department of geology & mining is situated in the second science building.

Founded in 2000, the Faculty of Agriculture is the newest addition to the university, and was formed when a local agricultural college was absorbed into the university. The Faculty has programs in fishery, genetic engineering, agronomy and veterinary sciences.

Faculty of Medicine is organised differently from other disciplines. Medical education is provided by seven medical colleges located around the Rajshahi Division. Though these colleges are autonomous to a large extent, the degrees are conferred by Rajshahi University. Rajshahi Medical College is the oldest medical college under administration of the university and is located a few miles west of the university campus along with a highly equipped large hospital. The university used to have a separate engineering program through BIT (Bangladesh Institute of Technology) Rajshahi, which has become an independent university being renamed Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology in 2002.

The University of Dhaka is the oldest and the largest university in Bangladesh with more than 32,000 students and 1,600 teachers.The University of Dhaka demonstrated an inherent strength in its activities during its eventful and often critical existence since it was established in 1921. University of Dhaka is the one of the leading research institutes in Bangladesh as, according to WoS (Web of Science), research in Bangladesh is dominated by two institutes. the University of Dhaka and the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh publishing 18% and 17% of all Bangladesh's publications, respectively.

It is the only university in Bangladesh to have been listed in AsiaWeek's listing of best Asian Universities in 2000 and 1999 (37th) rankings.

Academic divisions:Faculties & Institutions

Today, there are 10 faculties, 52 departments, 9 institutes, 34 research centres, 1,545 teachers, about 30,000 students, 18 residential halls and 2 hostels. Two thirds of the present faculty possesses degrees from universities in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia.

Many of them achieved international reputation for their scholarly works. Many also have the experience of teaching in well known institutions of higher learning abroad.

Research Activities

The University of Dhaka is dedicated to the advancement of learning and is committed to promoting research in all fields of knowledge. New research projects are undertaken every year. Six half yearly English journals and one ten-monthly Bengali journal are published by six faculties regularly. Ten more research journals are published by individual departments.
